Job Title: British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide 1:1 support to a young lady with a hearing impairment, assisting with her educational and personal development.
  2. Use BSL to effectively communicate and engage with the student, ensuring clear understanding and inclusion in all activities.
  3. Work closely with the student to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment that addresses her anxiety and supports her emotional well-being.
  4. Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to facilitate access to the curriculum and adapt resources as needed.
  5. Monitor and track the student's progress, providing feedback and suggesting strategies to promote continuous improvement.
  6. Be an advocate for the student's needs within the school environment.
Requirements:
  1. Hold a British Sign Language qualification at any level.
  2. Registered with the DBS Update Service.
  3. Previous experience supporting individuals with hearing impairments is highly preferred.
  4. Strong signing skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  5. Exhibits a patient, understanding, and empathetic demeanor, particularly in relation to anxiety and other emotional challenges.
  6. Possess a good sense of humour and an ability to build rapport and trust with students.
  7. Committed to ongoing professional development and training.
