Connex Education are seeking an experienced SEND Learning Mentor with British Sign Language to work in a school for children with hearing impairment in Bolton.

About the School

All of the children have a hearing loss. The pupils are taught using Sign Supported English Pupils are ages 2-16 years . All children have Education and Heath Care Plan (EHCP)

Assignment details

Monday To Friday 5 days a week on supply,

The hours are 8.30 to 3.30/4pm

You will be providing support to children 2-16 years old hearing loss , learning difficulties previous experienced working in similar roles is required.

British Sign Language training is desirable and experience in similar role

Person specification
  • Excellent communication skills, Empathetic and Patient , being self-regulated and calm. With a positive supportive attitude.
  • Experienced supporting individuals with hearing loss/ Learning disabilities and/or complex needs .
  • British Sign Language trained
  • Experience of supporting children and young people struggle to manage their emotions, behaviour, and relationships, which can impact their learning and overall well-being. Be able to get to know pupils and get a good understanding of needs.
  • Be able to interact well with pupils and staff and able to work well as a team.
  • Able to provide a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
