Job summary

Hawk Hiring LTD in Nutley/Ashdown Forest area is seeking a British Classic Car Mechanic/Restoration Technician to handle comprehensive mechanical rebuilds and bespoke fabrication for iconic British classics. You will work on ground-up restorations of pre-2016 Land Rover Defenders and other vintage vehicles in a small, enthusiast-led workshop.

Base salary ranges from £32,000 to £40,000 per year, with potential to reach £45,000 for high-level specialists plus a lucrative annual performance bonus

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or solid time-served restoration background.
• Experience with classic British marque vehicles and pre-2016 Land Rover Defenders.
• Proven ability to perform engine overhauls, chassis alignment, wiring, and bespoke fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Handle comprehensive mechanical rebuilds and full classic restorations.
• Perform custom fabrication and troubleshooting on vintage builds.

Role Overview

Seeking a British Classic Car Mechanic / Restoration Technician to handle comprehensive mechanical rebuilds, custom fabrication, complex troubleshooting, and full classic restorations. If you live and breathe vintage British engineering and love bringing historic, custom builds to life from the chassis up, this is your ultimate workshop home.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or solid time-served classic restoration background).
• Hands-on experience working on classic British marque vehicles and pre-2016 Land Rover Defenders is a massive advantage, but raw passion, mechanical aptitude, and a keen eye for detail matter most.
• Proven ability to execute engine overhauls, chassis alignment, wiring, and bespoke vehicle fabrication.
• Full UK driving licence & own hand tools.

• Base: Nutley / Ashdown Forest area (Free secure on-site parking)
• Road Links: Prime countryside position directly off the A22 corridor, with quick driving routes north toward East Grinstead and south toward Uckfield and Lewes, alongside easy cross-links via the A26 and A272.
• Public Transport: Rural bus connections operating along the main A22 route, with rail links nearby at Crowborough, Uckfield, and East Grinstead stations.
• Commutable From: Uckfield, Crowborough, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Tunbridge Wells, and Burgess Hill.
