Job description

A key underwriter position with a city-based lender known for "a family feel within the office" and significant success. Due to a recent influx of quality business and a proactive new management team, they are eager to hire an additional underwriter to work in their smart City offices.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a pipeline of regulated bridging loan cases and prioritize accordingly.
  2. Underwrite loan applications within the company's lending criteria by making quality lending decisions.
  3. Be vigilant when working on cases and refer to the appropriate person when necessary.
  4. Maintain high communication levels with interested parties including brokers, applicants, surveyors, and solicitors.
  5. Provide excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  6. Collaborate closely with other departments such as sales, compliance, finance, and collections.
  7. Think proactively and creatively to overcome potential problems without increasing risk to the company.
  8. Oversee loans post-completion and follow up on any offer conditions before handing the loan to collections.
  9. Stay updated on current best practices and regulatory requirements.
  10. Represent the company at events as required.
  11. Experience in underwriting bridge finance products is required.
