Qualifications

  • Experience in a regulated bridging environment is desired but not essential.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial accounts, valuations, and credit searches.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines in a complex environment.

  • Communicate findings to the Credit Risk department for underwriting decisions.

Job description

Ability to adopt a pragmatic approach to underwriting bridging loan mortgage applications in line with criteria, policy, and approved lending mandate.

To understand and analyze key items such as credit searches, bank statements, financial accounts, property valuations, and business appraisals to make informed lending decisions. Ability to assess the applicant’s portfolio, where applicable, in line with PRA requirements.

To deliver high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in data input and all written communication produced.

Ability to develop a solid rationale for cases outside of own lending mandate or company policy and communicate findings to Credit Risk department for consideration.

To build successful relationships with external contacts such as brokers, customers, surveyors, and solicitors, as well as internal teams like administrators, completion officers, credit risk, and finance, ensuring all lending requirements are satisfied prior to funds release.

Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and quality under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

To manage a pipeline of approximately 55 cases through to completion, ensuring compliance with service standards and lending policies.

To handle all internal and external telephone and email inquiries efficiently within company standards.

Ensure a good understanding of all company policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines, integrating these principles into daily practice to mitigate risks.

To embrace the principles of treating customers fairly and responsible lending in all decisions.

The Person
  • Excellent understanding of the specialist bridging finance and commercial mortgage sector.
  • Good knowledge of legal conveyancing.
  • Experience working to tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a regulated bridging environment (desired but not essential).
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of TCF.
  • Fully CeMAP qualified or willing to work towards qualification.
  • Good knowledge of compliance procedures within the mortgage industry.
  • Ability to read and understand financial accounts, valuations, business appraisals, and credit searches.
  • Analytical and pragmatic approach to underwriting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
