What are we looking for?

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced Bridging Underwriter to join our team, specialising in digital-first bridging finance for residential, commercial, and semi-commercial loans.

This role requires a detail-oriented and entrepreneurial professional who can proactively assess lending applications, conduct thorough due diligence, and ensure smooth progression from application to loan drawdown, whilst operating cross functionally - both directly with external stakeholders and internally across the organisation.

This is one of our early hires, and as such a very important one. We have grand plans over the long-term and are looking for the right people to join us on this journey. Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and underwrite bridging loans in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Make lending decisions in accordance with the Credit Risk Policy.
• Ensure compliance with AML, financial crime prevention, and data protection policies and regulations.
• Collaborate with all stakeholders to efficiently progress cases from decision in principle to drawdown.
• Prepare and present appropriately detailed credit papers to the Underwriting Committee.
• Draft and review offer letters to ensure clarity and accuracy.
• Ensure pre-completion conditions are satisfied, allowing for secure case progression and a seamless customer experience.
• Ensure that full and accurate records are maintained for all cases from application through to completion.
• Assist with post-completion activities, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Utilise Morpheus Lending’s digital underwriting platform, to ensure a smooth customer journey whilst working on continuous process improvement.
• Adopt an entrepreneurial and culture focussed approach to your work, supporting the broader business in achieving its growth plans and ambitious strategic goals.

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in Bridging Finance, Underwriting, or Property Lending, covering unregulated lending.
• An understanding of the UK regulatory framework, including FCA, PRA, AML, and financial crime prevention guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both with our partners externally and internally across the company.
• Experience liaising with Brokers and customers in a lending or underwriting environment.
• Highly motivated individual, committed to delivering exceptional service to customers and clients.
• An entrepreneurial and independent individual that can work commercially to secure great outcomes for the company and the customer.
• Current or prior lending mandate held.
• Experience in broader Property Lending, including Buy-To-Let and Commercial Term mortgages.
• Experience in Business Development, Product or Sales within Property Lending markets.
• Familiarity with digital lending platforms, automated underwriting tools, and AI-driven risk assessment models.
