Job summary

Nottingham College seeks an experienced Brickwork Lecturer on a 0.6 FTE basis to teach and assess learners across Brickwork programmes within the Further Education curriculum at Basford campus. The successful candidate will plan, deliver and assess practical and theoretical Brickwork content, provide tutorials, and support progression into construction careers or further study.

Industry experience and a teaching qualification are preferred, with employer links and safeguarding responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Proven industry experience within Brickwork, alongside relevant teaching, training or educational experience.
  • You will ideally hold a relevant Brickwork qualification at Level 2/3 or equivalent, together with a recognised teaching qualification.
  • Applicants who do not currently hold a teaching qualification but have significant industry expertise and a passion for teaching will also be considered, with appropriate support available to gain a teaching qualification.
  • Experience of delivering and assessing Brickwork qualifications within Further Education, apprenticeships or another vocational training environment would be desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Brickwork teaching and learning sessions across relevant levels.
  • Deliver both practical workshop-based training and underpinning knowledge.
  • Assess learners' practical skills, knowledge and understanding in line with qualification requirements.
  • Provide academic and pastoral tutorials, supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Monitor, record and report on learner progress and achievement.
  • Develop learners' practical skills and employability skills to support progression into the construction industry, further study or apprenticeships.
  • Maintain strong links with industry and maximise opportunities for employer engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with curriculum colleagues to ensure a dynamic, responsive and high-quality Brickwork curriculum.
  • Motivate and inspire learners, encouraging high standards of workmanship, professional behaviour and health and safety.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities, including standardisation, assessment and classroom/workshop observations.
  • Ensure all teaching and learning activities promote equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding.
