Job summary

Belmont Recruitment are seeking a Bricklayer to work on a Sheffield City Council assignment on a 3‑month temporary contract. The role is full‑time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and involves laying masonry, reading plans, and site preparation.

The successful candidate will have bricklaying experience and a Basic DBS. You will contribute to accurate brickwork, alignment, and restoration tasks on site, ensuring high standards and safety compliance throughout the contract.

Qualifications

• Experience as a bricklayer is required.
• Basic DBS is required.

Responsibilities

• Lay bricks and blocks accurately using mortar as a binder.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and site specifications.
• Mix mortar and set out initial rows, corners, and damp-proof courses.
• Check horizontal and vertical alignment using spirit levels, plumb lines, and laser levels.
• Cut and shape bricks using hand tools, chisels, or power saws.
• Repair and restore old brickwork by repointing mortar joints.

Key Responsibilities

• Laying Masonry: Lay bricks and blocks accurately using mortar as a binder.

• Preparation: Mix mortar and set out the initial rows, corners, and damp-proof courses.
