Brent Knoll School - Excellent Primary Teacher Required
An inspirational and dedicated Class Teacher is required to join our inclusive school community from September 2025 (or as soon as possible).
You will already be.
- An excellent classroom teacher with primary mainstream or special school teaching experience
- Proactive, resilient and energetic
- Self-motivated with a creative approach to curriculum delivery
You will have;
- A commitment to improving the outcomes and life chances of children and young people with complex special educational needs including autism
- The skills to continuously improve the learning experiences for our children
The post will involve the teaching, care and pastoral responsibility for a class of 8-10 pupils at KS1, 2, 3 or 4, who require a higher level of adaptation and support to facilitate their learning. The post is an ideal opportunity for an excellent classroom practitioner looking to further enhance or develop their teaching career in special education.
Brent Knoll is an all age (4 - 17 years) special school with a one-year sixth form provision for children and young people with social and communication difficulties including autism. Many of our pupils also have significant learning, and social and emotional difficulties. The school moved to a purpose-built building in September 2015 with fantastic facilities which have brought exciting opportunities for enriching the curriculum and children’s learning. If you are passionate about working with and supporting pupils with SEND, we can offer an exciting future in special school education in a creative and innovative provision. By working collaboratively with experienced and like-minded colleagues this could be the post for you.
You will be supported by working with a dedicated team of teachers, learning support assistants and therapists to develop and adapt pedagogical approaches to meet the diverse needs of our learners, enabling them to achieve the best possible outcomes. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills when working in partnership with families, colleagues and children.
You will benefit from opportunities for further professional development and career progression as we value and support staff in all aspects of school life. We have a highly supportive and experienced leadership and safeguarding team as well as Lead Practitioners on the staff team to provide expert advice and training for colleagues.
No previous special school experience is necessary as we provide a comprehensive induction package and excellent continuing professional development, training and support. You do need a strong interest in inclusive practice to support learners with SEND and a commitment to professional learning, reflection and growth. Mainstream primary teachers are especially encouraged to apply. This post is also suitable for Early Career Teacher’s (ECTs).
We are committed to supporting the mental health and physical well-being of all our pupils and staff. We have a dedicated team of colleagues responsible for promoting best practice in this area.
The school is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we implement all aspects of the safer recruitment process. We are an equal opportunities employer and committed to equality, diversity and inclusion to create a supportive learning environment for all students and staff.
