Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire announced a permanent Breastfeeding Support Service Assistant role based at University Hospital Wishaw within the Infant Feeding Team. The post focuses on promoting breastfeeding initiation and continuation, especially in the first six weeks, and mentoring volunteers across hospital, community and home settings.

Working mainly days with 3 out of 7, occasional evenings, you will support families and collaborate with professionals to ensure high-quality care in line with UNICEF

Qualifications

• SVQ III in Healthcare or equivalent required.
• Breastfeeding training or willingness to undertake.
• Experience with volunteers or volunteering.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivery of high quality care to meet women’s needs.
• Assist clinicians within a variety of clinical settings as required.
• Following training, carry out tasks delegated by a registered midwife.
• Support families with initiation and sustainment of breastfeeding per UNICEF Baby Friendly standards.
