Job summary

Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is seeking a dedicated professional to support families with complex feeding needs, primarily on the postnatal ward and within the community. The role includes antenatal and postnatal education, and ensuring alignment with UNICEF infant feeding guidelines.

The post holder will collaborate with the Infant Feeding Lead and provide face-to-face and telephone feeding support up to 6 weeks post birth, across hospital and community environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in breastfeeding support or lactation consult
• Ability to provide education in groups and individuals
• Good communication and data collection skills
• Ability to work across hospital and community settings

Responsibilities

• Provide antenatal and postnatal education to families, in both small groups and larger sessions, including virtual formats
• Offer specialist breastfeeding support across settings (hospital, community, groups, phone) and assist with complex cases
• Support mothers to initiate and sustain breastfeeding and promote infant brain development and bonding
• Collect data and feedback for audits to continuously improve the infant feeding service
