Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Grade/Clinical Fellow to complement our established and experienced Breast Radiology team. North Tees hospital houses a modern, purpose built breast unit where radiologists and surgeons work jointly to ensure as much of a one stop service as possible. The unit has an excellent reputation for high quality patient care and we are proud of the first class breast imaging service the Trust provides covering the population of East Durham, Stockton on Tees, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake a minimum of 5 programmed activities (PAs) of breast radiology.
  • Candidates may work entirely within Breast Radiology or in a more mixed Breast/General Radiology role. For those taking a General Radiology role, duties include participation in the general radiology on-call service (currently 1:12), supported by overnight outsourcing (Nighthawk).
  • There is no requirement to perform complex interventions (such as nephrostomy) out of hours. Candidates employed wholly within Breast Radiology will not be expected to participate in out-of-hours provision.
  • General Radiology is well equipped with modern facilities including multiple Siemens CT scanners (Dual and Single Source), 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners, SPECT-CT and upgraded ultrasound facilities. Fully specified home workstations are provided to support insourcing and home working.
Working Across Trusts

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust now form University Hospitals Tees and you may be required to work at any site across both Trusts.

Qualifications and Eligibility
  • You must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (London) and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of entry onto CCT at the time of appointment.
  • You must be qualified to a minimum of FRCR.
Terms and Arrangements
  • The post is tenable on a whole time (10 programmed activities) or part-time basis. Flexible job plans will be considered, including sessions at other centres to support research and expertise sharing opportunities.
  • This appointment is subject to an Enhanced Level Disclosure Barring Service check.
