Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse to join the Breast Cancer specialist nursing team. You will be based predominantly at Darlington Memorial Hospital, with some trust-wide working involved.

You will receive excellent training, development, and support, providing specialist nursing and clinical support for the specialty.

Ideally, you will have a background in oncology or breast surgery, and you will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be involved in delivering specialist breast cancer nursing care in collaboration with Breast Surgery Consultants, Oncologists, and other team members.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a clinical nurse specialist (CNS), delivering expert, specialist service to patients diagnosed with breast cancer. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating a seamless service, ensuring high standards of clinical care, and facilitating access to multidisciplinary resources through clinical practice, caseload management, education, research, audit, and professional activities.

The role involves active participation in the breast MDT and close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Support for the existing Breast Cancer CNS team is also expected.

The post-holder will promote safe, competent, evidence-based practice within the clinical governance framework and national objectives.

As a Cancer CNS, your primary purpose is to provide guidance, support, and treatment based on advanced knowledge to patients, carers, and health professionals regarding breast cancer.

The Macmillan Band 6 Breast Cancer CNS will:
