Job summary

Junior Adventures Group is seeking a Breakfast Club Playworker for Wilson Primary School in Reading. You will help deliver engaging childcare before school, ensuring a safe, structured and enjoyable start to the day for children.

The role emphasizes reliability, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication with children, parents and staff. Term-time hours with scope to work additional holiday club shifts.

Qualifications

  • Experience with children is desirable.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of structured and engaging activities including multi-sports, games, arts & crafts, and structured play.
  • Create a fun, inclusive and safe environment for children.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and company procedures are followed at all times.
  • Support children during arrival, activities and collection.
  • Follow sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Assist with setting up and packing away play areas and equipment.
  • Provide refreshments while maintaining hygiene standards.
  • Complete relevant documentation including accident and incident forms.
  • Communicate professionally with children, parents, colleagues, and schools.
  • Carry out basic equipment checks and help maintain a safe environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage active participation.

Breakfast Club Playworker –Wilson Primary School, Reading RG30 2RW

Playworker required to support and deliver engaging childcare within a fun and inclusive Breakfast club in Reading.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and caring individual to join our team to help create a safe, structured and enjoyable environment for children attending our breakfast club school provision.

Start Date:

ASAP

Contract:

Term Time Only

  • Opportunity to work additional hours during school holidays (holiday club)
Hours:
6.25 hours per week (Term Time)
Working Pattern:
  • Monday to Friday
  • 7.30- 8.45 (BreakfastClub)
School Holidays (optional):
  • Up to 40 hours per week
  • 08:30 – 17:30
Pay:

Up to £12.71 per hour (plus holiday pay)

About the Role

At Junior Adventures Group, we are looking for a passionate and enthusiasticPlayworkerto join our growing team.

You will support the delivery of high-quality childcare in our after school club, helping to create a fun, safe and engaging environment where children can relax, play and develop after their school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of structured and engaging activities including multi-sports, games, arts & crafts, and structured play
  • Create a fun, inclusive and safe environment for children
  • Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and company procedures are followed at all times
  • Support children during arrival, activities, and collection
  • Follow sign-in and sign-out procedures
  • Assist with setting up and packing away play areas and equipment
  • Provide refreshments while maintaining hygiene standards

  • Support first aid and health & safety procedures where required

This role is subject to safeguarding requirements in line withKeeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
