Job summary

The Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth is seeking a passionate Breakfast Chef to join our busy kitchen team. You will own the breakfast service, cook high-quality dishes and ensure guests start their day with great food.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef, Chef de Partie or similar in a hotel, restaurant or busy kitchen.
• Passion for food and pride in delivering delicious, well-presented dishes.
• Confidence managing breakfast service and maintaining standards during busy periods.
• Excellent organisation and time management to keep service running smoothly.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, safety and allergen management.
• Commercial awareness for portion control, stock management and reducing waste.
• Positive, reliable and flexible attitude to support the wider kitchen team.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the breakfast service, preparing and cooking delicious breakfasts for a great start to the day.
• Preparing and presenting a variety of breakfast dishes to look and taste great and meet quality standards.
• Managing breakfast preparation and ensuring the kitchen is organised, stocked and ready for service.
• Working with the Food & Beverage team to provide a seamless breakfast experience.
• Maintaining HACCP and kitchen hygiene standards and complying with safety procedures.
• Monitoring stocks and controlling waste to support food cost management.
• Catering for dietary requirements and allergens, ensuring safe preparation.
• Bringing a positive attitude and fresh ideas to continually improve breakfast offering and guest satisfaction.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BREAKFAST CHEF AT OUR HOTEL

What you'll be doing...

• Taking ownership of the breakfast service, preparing and cooking delicious, high-quality breakfasts that give our guests a fantastic start to their day.
• Preparing and presenting a variety of breakfast dishes, ensuring everything looks great, tastes delicious and meets our quality standards.
• Managing breakfast preparation and ensuring the kitchen is organised, stocked and ready for a smooth and efficient service.
• Working closely with the Food & Beverage team to ensure guests receive a seamless and enjoyable breakfast experience.
• Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards, ensuring compliance with HACCP and kitchen procedures.
• Monitoring stock levels, controlling waste and supporting food cost management without compromising quality.
• Catering for guests with dietary requirements and allergies, ensuring food is prepared safely and with care.
• Bringing a positive attitude and fresh ideas to the kitchen, helping us continually improve our breakfast offering and guest satisfaction.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Previous experience working as a Breakfast Chef, Chef de Partie or similar role within a hotel, restaurant or busy kitchen environment.
• A genuine passion for food and pride in delivering delicious, well-presented dishes.
• Confidence managing breakfast service, working independently and maintaining standards during busy periods.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prepare efficiently and keep service running smoothly.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and allergen management.
• A commercially aware approach, understanding the importance of portion control, stock management and reducing food waste.
• A positive, reliable and flexible attitude, with a willingness to support the wider kitchen team.
• Someone who enjoys early starts and understands the importance of being ready to deliver a great breakfast experience every morning.
