Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a part-time Breakfast Chef for Saturdays and Sundays in Dalston, Carlisle. This role focuses on delivering a high-quality breakfast service, managing kitchen operations during weekend shifts, and providing friendly, professional customer service.

You will work 07:30am to 11:30am total 8 hours per week, with duties spanning food preparation, presentation, hygiene, stock control, and ensuring allergen information and safety standards are maintained.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Chef within a busy catering or food service environment.
• Experience preparing and delivering a high-quality breakfast service.
• A passion for food and producing consistently high-quality dishes.
• The confidence to take responsibility for a kitchen and service while working effectively with the wider catering team.
• The ability to work at pace and remain organised during busy service periods.
• Good knowledge of food safety, food hygiene and allergen controls, including PPDS requirements.
• An understanding of stock control, food costs, waste management and portion control.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise your workload.
• Great customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve a high-quality breakfast service, ensuring food is presented to an excellent standard.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen during weekend breakfast service.
• Deliver a friendly and professional service, creating a positive experience for customers.
• Prepare food for breakfast service and support with preparation for the wider weekly catering operation.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Manage food orders, stock levels, stock rotation and support stock takes to minimise waste and control costs.
• Ensure allergen information, due diligence and food safety documentation is completed accurately.
• Follow requirements relating to allergens, PPDS, Food Safety, Health & Safety and COSHH.
• Ensure food production and portion control are effectively managed to support food costs and profitability.
• Make sure catering equipment is used safely, reporting faults and removing unsafe equipment from use.
• Deal professionally with customer enquiries and feedback, taking action where possible to provide a great service.
• Support and guide catering colleagues during service, delegating tasks to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
• Follow approved purchasing procedures and ensure food and supplies are ordered through nominated suppliers.
• Complete required catering administration and food production records accurately.
• Help maintain a safe, secure, clean and organised kitchen at all times.
