Primary Objectives & Main role

The key responsibility is the management of a portfolio of brands from one or more Brand Owners.

  • To maximise the marketing opportunities available to the brand with a comprehensive & relevant marketing programme, utilising all appropriate elements of the mix, & thus increase sales, profitability & performance in line with given strategic objectives & annual plan.Implement programme ensuring successful execution of all elements.
  • To determine & deliver the correct marketing tools, cohesive to the rest of the marketing programme, which are required to achieve consumer interest & demand at point of sale.
  • To understand & respect the brand vision of the Brand Owner while interpreting & adapting the international marketing programme appropriately & relevantly for the local UK market, ensuring all elements are of highest calibre, meeting creative, financial and strategic objectives.
  • To communicate effectively & regularly with all company employees, 3rd parties & Brand Owners on all relevant marketing issues.

Tasks

1.Annual planning of budgets and marketing plans

Performance Criteria

·Prepare A&P budgets based on sales performance and contractual obligations and gain approval from Senior Management team and Brand Owner

·Prepare marketing objectives and strategies for UK ,aligning with Brand Owner vision

·Prepare full launch support plans and implement accordingly.

·Ensure that basic business is supported throughout the year through engaging animation and activity.

2.Regular reporting & feedback of sales performance, launch activity, spend & support.

Performance Criteria

·Timely, accurate & informative reports sent to Brand Owners & VFL management team on regular basis, abiding by any contractual requirements for reporting.

3.Regular communications with Brand Owners, any sales team, marketing colleagues & the retail trade.

Performance Criteria

·Achieve a regular interface with the any Sales teams and agents, Sales Administration & Finance to fully understand the brand dynamics & issues.

·Liaise closely with any Sales teams and agents on all programmes and plans to ensure feedback and commitment to implementation of all final marketing initiatives.

·Communicate project initiatives and plans effectively and in timely fashion to sales team / agent / logistics to ensure that they have sufficient lead time to implement activity.

·Ensure that the PR initiatives are instigated in a timely fashion.

·Keep the VFL management & Brand Owner fully updated on all brand issues including sales performance, marketing activity & results, marketing investment, retail issues, competitive activity etc.

·Develop an understanding of the brand issues by retail group & then work to address them through account specific marketing initiatives.

·Develop an understanding of the brand issues for each retailer & then work to develop business plans for growing business accordingly.

4.Recommend marketing plans & strategies annually & for launch and retailer period.

Performance Criteria

·Timely marketing launch docs for all key activities with relevant sales analysis, investment & results.

·Marketing plans to include all relevant elements of the mix including new products, promotions, pricing, PR, merchandising, collateral, direct marketing & web-site.

·Preparation of adequate & accurate selling tools for each launch / period to merchandising guidelines, an activity presentation, matrices, order forms & price lists.

·Prepare seasonal retailer strategy presentations, communicating brand programmes in compelling and relevant style for each store group.

·Evaluation of all marketing activities & reporting of results to sales, brand owners & VFL management, including preparation for Brand Owner meetings.

5.Analyse the business.

Performance Criteria

·Monitor sales performance against target & plan, judging & understanding any over/under achievement & providing reasons & solutions where relevant.

·Plan annual A&P with MD, based on sales budget.

·Maintain accurate records of expenditure within budget (including prompt raising of purchase orders), have regular reviews & adjustments in line with sales, & deliver cost efficient programmes within budget.

7.Preserve & promote brand image.

Performance Criteria

·Understand & respect the long-term vision & strategy for the brands & how the fragrance lines are an essential part of the total global brand plan.

·Be the brand custodian in the UK & always represent the brands & VFL professionally, with integrity.

·Know your brands – be the expert on all aspects of your brands to include retail & wholesale sales, distribution & pricing.

8.Understanding of the UK market.

Performance Criteria

·Be aware & understand the dynamics of the UK retail trade by working closely with colleagues on all relevant trade initiatives.

·Have regular field visits throughout the UK.

·Know your distribution base & ensure that all changes are communicated to the MD/FVL management, Finance & Brand Owners.

·Be aware of the competitive environment & ensure that the Brand Owners & VFL management are kept informed of all competitor brand launches & major activities, especially those that may affect your brands.

·Review regularly price points by brand & by retail group and make recommendations based on competitive / exchange rate / contractual price structures for approval by Senior Management and Brand Owner.

9.Promote & retain relationships with Brand Owners.

·Efficient & effective day-to-day management of the brands, ensuring that the Brand Owner is confident in the way their brands are being handled.

·Proactively provide the Brand Owner with all necessary brand & market information.

Performance Criteria

·Ensure that all projects are implemented to high standard, aligning with Brand Owner vision, and with all relevant budget / design approvals adhered to.

Candidates must be UK resident, London based, and they must have fragrance industry experience.
