Do you want to create a better world for animals? At the RSPCA, we believe all animals deserve kindness and respect. We work for the benefit of every animal – pets, farmed animals, wildlife, and animals used in science. Choose a career with us and make a difference for every kind.

We are looking for a Brand Content Specialist to join us on a full-time, six-month fixed-term contract.

Working hours: 35 hours / Monday to Friday

The role will be hybrid but predominantly home-based, with some travel to our offices in Horsham, West Sussex and Blackfriars, London when needed.

You'll take a leading role in developing an internal taxonomy and cataloguing system for content, to enable creators to search, find and reuse content across multiple formats and channels. You'll also create and edit written content as required.

This is a strategic creative role focusing on organising online and offline brand content assets across the whole of the charity, as well as creating and editing copy. Day to day, you'll take a leading role in developing an internal taxonomy and cataloguing system for content, to enable fellow creators to search, find, and reuse content across multiple formats and channels. You'll be working on a range of comms, including fundraising materials, emails, web pages, magazines and reports, ensuring comms are delivered in a consistent brand tone of voice. We work with multiple stakeholders across a wide variety of projects, including fundraising, campaigns, advocacy and education teams, and you'll also be working closely with channel leads, including in social media, press, and digital.

Here's some of the key work you'll be doing:

  • Developing an internal taxonomy and cataloguing system for existing content, with best-practice guidance on how to build internal content repositories.
  • Leading on prioritisation and cataloguing of existing content to shape and socialise this approach.
  • Creating channel-agnostic content informed by audience and user experience insights, and using structured content briefs.
  • Proposing unique editorial angles based on seasonal audience needs and brand marcomms objectives, and considering how this content can be used across different formats, channels and audiences.
  • Helping to develop and socialise use cases for AI, to improve efficiencies in the editing process and the quality of content being produced across the organisation.
  • Ensuring content sets are supported by accurate, concise and persuasive copy to be used in both print and digital formats.
  • When needed, deliver high-performing copy for a variety of products and services with measurable impact across a range of channels.
  • Ensuring all copywriting supports and develops the overall brand voice.

Please see the attached job description for a full insight into what the role entails.

  • An understanding of user-first content design approaches.
  • Experience developing content taxonomies and/or repositories.
  • An understanding of multi-channel content planning and distribution processes.
  • Experience and curiosity around using AI to improve efficiencies when editing content on tight turnarounds, from multiple sources and skill levels.
  • Proven experience in a content creation/copywriting role such as publishing, journalism, marketing, digital/creative agency – employed or freelance.
  • An understanding of the importance of tone of voice and staying on brand.
  • Experience in the charity sector is a bonus.
  • Educated to HND/Degree level standard or equivalent, or ability to demonstrate similar intellectual capacity and experience
  • Excellent command of language, grammar and attention to detail.
  • A confident, friendly and proactive manner when working with others.
  • Good time management and ability to work alone, to deadlines, and accept constructive feedback.
  • Familiarity with Google workspace, Trello, Indesign, Figma.
  • Commitment to the cause of animal welfare.
