Job summary

Screwfix Direct Ltd is offering a permanent full-time management trainee programme in Cardiff. You will lead store operations, work closely with customers and colleagues, and progress through a structured apprenticeship path from Assistant Store Manager to Branch Manager.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership within Screwfix’s retail environment. This programme focuses on developing leadership skills, customer service excellence, and personal growth, with supported progression through Level 3

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship-based track to leadership roles in store management.
• Structured development to become Assistant Store Manager in 12–15 months.
• Progression to Branch Manager via Level 4 Apprenticeship over 15 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front and develop the store team to deliver great customer service.
• Support training programmes and build a high-performing retail team.
• Drive store performance and customer satisfaction through hands-on management.

For those looking to step into management, this programme focuses on action-based learning. Under close mentorship, you’ll develop leadership skills as you take on real business challenges.

Trade Up to Assistant Store Manager

With 770+ stores and counting, there are plenty of paths into management for our retail team. Through this supportive and hands‑on training programme, Supervisors can learn everything they need to become Assistant Store Manager in just 12-15 months. And by the end of it, you’ll qualify with a Level 3 Retail Team Leader Apprenticeship.

Trade Up to Branch Manager

Over 15 months, you’ll undertake close supervision and structured learning as you learn how to run a store. By the end of this programme, you’ll have a Level 4 Retail Manager Apprenticeship and a strong knowledge of how to motivate and develop a team.
