Job summary

Screwfix Direct Ltd is seeking an Assistant Manager in Glasgow to support the Retail Branch Manager and ensure excellent customer service. You’ll help drive store standards, lead a hands-on team, manage shifts, budgets, stock and profitability.

The role offers flexible hours and a competitive salary with strong development opportunities. You’ll work in a busy store environment with training and progression paths, including 22.5+ hours for part-time applicants and a clear pathway to management

Key responsibilities

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO BE AN ASSISTANT MANAGER AT SCREWFIX?

Store standards – alongside the retail Branch Manager, you’ll make sure everything runs smoothly, from front of house to the warehouse. Rolling up your sleeves to keep standards high
Inspire your team – you’ll be hands on and lead by example, motivating your team to give a great customer experience
Store management – budgets, Rota’s and Payroll, P&L analysis, managing stock and improving profits are all part of your role.

Trade Up to Assistant Store Manager

With 770+ stores and counting, there are plenty of paths into management for our retail team. Through this supportive and hands‑on training programme, Supervisors can learn everything they need to become Assistant Store Manager in just 12‑15 months. And by the end of it, you’ll qualify with a Level 3 Retail Team Leader Apprenticeship.

Trade Up to Branch Manager

Over 15 months, you’ll undertake close supervision and structured learning as you learn how to run a store. By the end of this programme, you’ll have a Level 4 Retail Manager Apprenticeship and a strong knowledge of how to motivate and develop a team.
