Job summary

inspiring vet care is seeking a Branch Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our Moor Allerton surgery on a full-time basis, delivering senior clinical leadership and maintaining high nursing standards across the practice.

Join our experienced team of vets and nurses, with access to CT, X-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopy and endoscopy, and help shape culture, governance and patient care. This role offers a structured Nurse Academy pathway, development opportunities and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS.
  • Significant leadership experience in clinical practice.
  • Experience mentoring nursing teams.
  • Strong governance and quality improvement knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and develop the nursing team.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and client communication.
  • Oversee nurse clinics and daily workflows including CT and laparoscopic surgeries.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and practice standards.
  • Create and manage nursing team rotas, including holiday requests.

Job description

We are seeking a knowledgeable, confident Branch Head Veterinary Nurse to to lead our Moor Allerton surgeryon a full-timebasis.

As a general practice with mid-tier referral services, we have certificate-holder-led departments across surgery, medicine, behaviour, dentistry and exotics. Our varied caseload allows us to work cases up to a high standard, making this an exciting opportunity to further develop your referral nursing experience.

You’ll have access to advanced diagnostic equipment including CT, X-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopy and endoscopy across our fully equipped practices. Our facilities include purpose-built consulting rooms, an isolation ward and a spacious prep and theatre suite, alongside multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring and ventilator support.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of 14 vets, 9 RVNs, 7 SVNs, 5 VCAs, 13 receptionists and 2 administrators. We also have a dedicated emergency service, supported by a dedicated team of vets and nurses, ensuring our patients receive high-quality care around the clock.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Head Veterinary Nurse, you will provide senior clinical and professional leadership for the nursing team, overseeing all nursing aspects of the practice and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient and client care.

You’ll be responsible for setting and maintaining nursing standards, leading clinical governance and quality improvement activity, and developing a capable, confident nursing team. Working closely with the wider practice leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping culture, performance and ways of working.

Working Pattern

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Working 8 hour shifts Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
  • No OOH requirement

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and develop the team

  • Oversee and coordinate nurse clinics and daily workflows including CT, Laparoscopic surgeries and operations
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and practice standards
  • Create and manage nursing team rotas, including holiday requests
  • Set up and review Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support and encourage CPD for the nursing team
  • Collaborate with the wider leadership and veterinary teams to enhance patient care and operational efficiency
  • Perform a variety of nursing duties, including surgery, consultations, and inpatient care
  • Assist with stock control and other operational procedures
