Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a female support worker to work alongside a client in St. Austell, Cornwall. The client has complex needs, including an acquired brain injury, partial blindness, neurofibromatosis, some cognitive difficulty, and chronic fatigue. The successful candidate will need to have experience working with complex needs/brain injury, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to engage with the client to build a supportive relationship.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and engaging with the client's personalized routines, including the use of hoists. They will be required to complete daily living activities, administer medication, provide emotional support, and maintain accurate records of the care provided. The candidate must have a genuine passion for working with people, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We have an excellent opportunity for a female support worker to work alongside our client in St. Austell, Cornwall.

Our client is a lady in her 30's who has complex needs, including an acquired brain injury, partial blindness, neurofibromatosis, some cognitive difficulty, and chronic fatigue. She lives at home with her partner and their dog (who is in guide dog training) and enjoys audiobooks, dog walks on the beach, going out for coffee, and is developing an interest in extreme sports. They are also building a treatment room in the garden for physio and relaxation therapies.

Due to the client’s support needs, the successful candidate will need to be female, have some experience working with complex needs/brain injury, have a full UK driving licence, be flexible in approach, and work with what the client states she needs support with. The candidate should possess the softer skills of being a clear communicator with the motivation and ability to engage the client to build a solid, supporting relationship.

Hours: 15 hours per week over three days (shift times may vary due to the needs of the client)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting and engaging with personalized routines including hoists.
  • Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
  • Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any changes in the client’s condition.
  • Collaborating with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
