Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for a female support worker to work alongside our client in Gloucester, Gloucestershire.

Our client is a young man approaching his teens who has complex needs, including epilepsy, peg feeding and communication (non-verbal).

Due to the client's support needs, the successful candidate will need to be female, have some experience working with complex needs including brain injury or cerebral palsy, have a full UK driving licence, and possess the softer skills of being a clear communicator with the motivation and ability to engage the client to build a solid, supportive relationship.

Pay: £17.50 per hour

Hours: initially 10 per week over five days, moving to 40 (Monday - Friday 07:30 - 09:30 and adding 13:00 - 19:00 once client, family and support worker are comfortable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting, and engaging with personalised routines inclusive of hoists.
  • Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
  • Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any changes in clients’ conditions.
  • Collaborating with a range of healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with people and providing care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
  • Reliability, commitment, and flexibility.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
