This is an excellent opportunity for a support worker to work alongside a young client in Bishops Stortford, Essex. The client has complex needs, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and requires support with speech and language. The successful candidate will have experience working with complex needs/brain injury or cerebral palsy and possess the necessary communication and engagement skills to build a solid, supporting relationship with the client.

Main duties of the job

The client is a young man in his teens who enjoys activities such as music, books, photography, art, board games, card games, video games, and going for walks. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and engaging with the client's personalized routines, completing daily living activities, administering medication, providing emotional support, and maintaining accurate records of care. The role requires excellent communication, compassion, patience, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We have an excellent opportunity for a support worker to work alongside our client in Bishops Stortford, Essex.

Our client is a young man in his teens who has complex needs, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy and needs support with speech and language. He lives at home with his mum, has a good sense of humour, enjoys music, books, photography and art, he's currently learning to paint. He plays board games, card games and video games, goes for walks in the local area, loves trips out and engages with after school clubs.

Due to the client’s support needs and preference the successful candidate can be either female or male, will have some experience working with complex needs/brain injury or cerebral palsy and possess the softer skills of being a clear communicator with the motivation and ability to engage the client to build a solid, supporting relationship.

Pay:£15.91 Per Hour Weekdays & £17.97 Per Hour Weekends

Hours:40 per week over five days (Monday - Friday 15:30 - 21:00 & Saturday - Sunday 09:00 - 21:00, support required seven days a week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and engaging with personalised routines inclusive of hoists.
  • Completing daily living activities, including personal hygiene and mobility.
  • Administering medication and monitoring health conditions.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any changes in clients’ conditions.
  • Collaborating with a range of healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with people and providing care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
  • Reliability, commitment, and flexibility.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care.
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with people, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a compassionate and empathetic nature, reliability, commitment, and flexibility. Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in complex care, is preferred.
