Who are we?

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,600 colleagues have ever worked. We’re the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business. We offer a range of products across our market-leading brands, Standard Life, SunLife, Phoenix Life and ReAssure. Around 1 in 5 people in the UK has a pension with us. We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.

The role:

Working closely with the Technical Actuaries and Actuarial Operations Lead, you will support many aspects of the overall customer journey. The role would fit somebody looking for a challenge and will require the successful candidate to develop, integrate and review actuarial calculations as part of our BPA proposition.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate to provide oversight of complex member benefit calculations and member options with our administrators.
  • Checking actuarial calculations carried out by our administrators (e.g., transfer value calculations, retirement projections).
  • Assist in the development of cashflow projection models ensuring they reflect the most accurate and beneficial outcomes for members.
  • Responsible for processing and checking of factor assumptions across our portfolio of BPA schemes.
  • Helping to draft process notes and highlight any opportunities for process improvement that may arise.
  • Ensuring all work produced within our team is clearly documented and has a suitable audit trail and version control.
  • Developing a good understanding of pension benefit structures and options.
  • Responsible for creating bespoke models that address specific member benefits.

What are we looking for?

  • A level / degree or equivalent in a financial related subject.
  • An understanding of pension benefits and bulk annuity products while contributing to the creation of bespoke models would be desirable.
  • Very self-aware with the desire to exceed expectations and demonstrate resilience in overcoming challenges and determination to deliver results for the business.
  • Willingness to develop and progress in the role, highlighting and engaging with any training needs as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

We want to hire the whole version of you.
