Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Part Time 19 hours per week

Location of post: Pontardawe Arts Centre, Herbert Street, Pontardawe, Swansea SA8 4ED

We are currently looking for a Box Office Assistant to join our team at Pontardawe Arts Centre, which is a vibrant hub for arts and culture, offering a diverse range of performances, films, and community events. We are dedicated to providing exceptional service to our patrons and fostering a welcoming environment for all. Exciting new developmentsare underway, including the renovation of our facilities and a brand new dedicated cinema space. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive Box Office Service to the Pontardawe Arts Centre

The main duties of the post;

  • To offer an information, ticketing and concessions at the Arts Centre, assisting visitors and telephone callers, answering queries about facilities and services.
  • To sell concessions from the café bar, take bookings and sell tickets for the range of Arts Centre live and cinema programme of events.
  • Ensure all visitors are welcomed in a friendly and professional manner.
  • To enter data and maintain the Arts Centre Computer and Box Office systems.
  • To assist with the sale of concessions from the Arts Centre café/bar.
  • To handle cash and take responsibility for all takings including credit card transactions, during shift, including the reconciliation and banking of monies.
  • To ensure the cash and deposit reconciliation form is completed.
  • Ensure that all telephone calls are answered promptly, politely and in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that all messages taken are accurate, legible and passed on in good time.
  • To assist with administration and clerical procedures as a member of the Arts Centre team.
  • To undertake incidental cleaning as required.
  • To ensure the health and safety of the public and direct activities of Arts Centre users to prevent injury, misuse and damage to the facilities.
  • To undertake other duties commensurate with the post and grade as required by the Visitor Services Manager.
  • To undertake training as required
  • Be involved in an annual Development and Review process.
  • Discuss and review targets for personal development.
  • Ensure that the Local Authority policies and procedures are observed.

You will have experience in/of;

Dealing with personal, telephone, electronic and postal enquiries in a sales environment, preferably in an arts organisation

Working with computerised box office systems and databases

Ability to work as part of a team whilst demonstrating a willingness and ability to use initiative.

Understanding of arts marketing

Able to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to serving the community.

Ideally you will have;

Knowledge of cash and credit debit card handling processes in a retail environment.

No formal qualifications required, however the post holder must be prepared to undertake training in any relevant training required for the post.
