Job summary

Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is recruiting a Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) to join the Shropshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. The post is based at William Farr House with travel to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme services, manage caseloads, run nurse-led clinics, and maintain accurate patient records using the national IT system.

Qualifications

• Autonomous practitioner taking caseloads within the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
• Experience in nurse-led clinics and patient assessment.
• Ability to communicate sensitive information clearly to patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload of patients within the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
• Undertake nurse-led clinics, including patient assessment and information provision.
• Provide high-quality, patient-centred care and effective communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care across screening stages.
• Record and maintain patient data using the Bowel Cancer Screening IT system.
• Complete required trainings and engage in ongoing professional development.
• Maintain knowledge of screening, gastroenterology, endoscopy, pre-assessment or oncology as relevant.
• Demonstrate strong IT skills and accurate data entry.
