You will be working for a non-for-profit organisation that helps support the local town businesses.
Your new role
We need 2 Rangers, one on a full-time 35-hour contract and the other on a 28-hour contract.
The role of the Town Ranger is to provide a visible, approachable, uniformed presence on the streets, acting as the eyes and ears of the company, dealing directly with a defined range of issues, and escalating and reporting any unusual activity to the appropriate authority. A major part of the role involves acting as a host for visitors and customers of the member businesses.
Key Tasks:
It is expected that over time, the job holder will develop strong relationships with visitors, local businesses, police, council employees, and CCTV colleagues.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, previous experience in a face-to-face customer contact role. Experience working in a team and knowledge of Bournemouth town centre are desirable.
You should be physically fit and able to walk up to 8 miles a day while carrying belt-mounted equipment.
Contracted hours will be 35 hours per week across 5 days, with some weekend work required.
The contract is fixed-term until 2027, with potential extension depending on renewal ballots from 2027 to 2032.
The role is based in the Bournemouth Town Centre BID area and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Applicants will undergo standard DBS checks.
What you'll get in return
The starting salary will be £24,000, with a planned 3% pay rise in July 2025.
