Job summary

Bookkeeper position based in Darlington, recruited by SI Recruitment Limited on behalf of its client. The role focuses on bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients within a friendly accountancy practice, with the potential to progress into accounts preparation after around 12 months.

You will manage ledgers, VAT returns, and liaise with clients, with opportunities for development and training in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and VAT.
• Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
• Processing purchase and sales ledgers.
• Bank reconciliations.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Assisting clients with bookkeeping queries.
• Maintaining accurate financial records.
• Liaising with clients to obtain financial information.
• Supporting the wider team with ad hoc bookkeeping duties.
• Opportunity to progress into accounts preparation as experience develops.
