Job description

Job Title: Bookkeeper / Management Accountant

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Type: Permanent

We are expanding our accounts and audit department and are seeking an experienced bookkeeper or management accountant to join our team. Experience in an accountancy practice is not essential but will add variety, as the role involves working with multiple clients. The role is suited for someone who enjoys routine work without the pressure of year-end financial accounts or tax returns.

As part of our practice, you will work closely with business clients, providing VAT, management accounts, and bookkeeping services.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Bank postings and reconciliation
  • Debtor and creditor reconciliation (as required)
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Processing accounting adjustments such as accruals and prepayments
  • Posting journals for payroll, depreciation, etc.
  • Preparing management accounts and reports for clients
  • Analyzing financial information and discussing findings with clients

You should be able to meet deadlines and be flexible to work with clients from various trades.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • AAT qualification or equivalent (helpful but not essential)
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping
  • Proficiency in software such as Sage, Xero, and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle for client visits

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on assignments while supporting team members and trainees.
