Job summary

TPF Recruitment have partnered with an award winning accountancy practice in Bishop's Stortford to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper into their growing team. This Bookkeeper position plays a vital role in ensuring the financial accuracy and compliance of a growing independent accounting practice, serving small to medium-sized businesses across diverse industries.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' bookkeeping experience and will work with cloud-based platforms such as Xero,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional bookkeeping experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations.
• Proficiency with cloud-based platforms (Xero, QuickBooks or Sage).

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records for multiple clients.
• Process and reconcile bank and credit card transactions.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Assist with VAT returns, PAYE and HMRC compliance.
• Collect, verify and organize financial documentation from clients.
• Support year-end accounts and assist during external audits.
• Maintain secure, organized filing systems for data compliance.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, flagging complex issues to seniors.
• Communicate financial status and reporting timelines with clients and teams.
• Stay updated on changes in UK tax legislation and accounting standards.
