Autograph Specialist Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a friendly accountancy practice in Tiverton to appoint an Accounts Technician (Bookkeeper). The role offers a varied portfolio across sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

Key duties include bookkeeping, VAT returns, accounts and tax preparation, cloud software support (Xero/QuickBooks), admin tasks, and meeting deadlines in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of cloud accounting software, preferably Xero and/or QuickBooks.
• Good IT skills and a willingness to learn new systems.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
• The ability to use initiative, work independently and contribute positively to a team.
• A friendly, professional and reliable approach, with confidence communicating with clients.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with bookkeeping and spreadsheet work to support the preparation of accounts and business and personal tax returns.
• Assisting with VAT returns and monthly and quarterly accounting procedures.
• Supporting a varied client base with day-to-day accounting queries.
• Helping clients with cloud accounting software, particularly Xero and QuickBooks.
• Carrying out general administrative duties, including answering calls, letter writing, filing and maintaining records.
• Supporting colleagues and clients with key deadlines.
• Maintaining accurate records and following data protection and anti-money laundering requirements.
