Location: Newick, Lewes
Salary: GBP28,000 GBP35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

A growing business in Newick is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Book Keeper to take responsibility for its day-to-day financial processes. This is a mid-to-senior level position suited to someone confident in their bookkeeping ability and comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
As Book Keeper, you will manage financial transactions, maintain accurate records, support reporting, and play a key role in shaping the finance function. Formal qualifications are not essential experience, accuracy, and a proactive mindset are what matter most.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero)
Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
Process invoices, receipts, and payments
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including credit control
Prepare monthly reports and assist with forecasting and budgeting
Support VAT returns and year-end processes alongside external accountants
Ensure data confidentiality and integrity
Contribute to the improvement of financial processes and controls
Person Specification:
Proven experience in a mid- or senior-level bookkeeping or finance support role
Proficient in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
Skilled in reconciliations, reporting, and managing full bookkeeping functions
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Able to work independently and meet deadlines
Trustworthy in handling sensitive financial data
Team-oriented with a solutions-focused approach
Experience with VAT returns and year-end preparations is highly desirable
