Bookkeeper (Accounts Payable) required in Swindon.

  • £30-35,000 annual starting salary pending experience.
  • 37.5 hours per week between 8:30am-5:00pm Monday to Friday (some flexibility on these hours can be offered).

Our client, an independent used van/commercial vehicle dealership located in Swindon with over 400+ vehicles in stock, is currently looking to recruit a Bookkeeper.

Reporting to the Managing Director, as a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounts payable functions of our client's business.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing and reconciling supplier invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Managing supplier accounts and resolving any invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Preparing and processing BACS payment runs.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and responding to supplier queries.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end processes.
  • Assisting with VAT returns and internal/external audits.
  • Liaising with the wider finance and procurement teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing efficient accounting procedures.

To be successful in this Bookkeeper role, you'll need to be organised, proactive, and confident working with numbers. Our client is looking for someone with proven experience in a bookkeeping or accounts payable role, a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles, and a proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) and MS Excel. Overall, you will have an excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and great communication skills, both written and verbal. An AAT Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) would be preferred, but is not essential if you have the right experience.
