Job description

Aka Recruitment are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our clients dynamic finance team. This role is permanent position working within an established business in Huddersfield. Working hours are 8.30am to 5pm with the option to do 3 or 5 days, salary is generally around £30k basic subject to hours and experience
Job duties include:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices, payments, and collections
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a monthly basis
  • Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement
  • Maintain an organized filing system for financial documents and records
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors
  • Stay current with accounting standards, tax regulations, and best practices in bookkeeping
  • Provide support to the finance team and other departments as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
