Job description

Client:
We are looking for an experienced and competent bookkeeper to join one of our local clients in haulage & construction on a temporary basis (around 4 weeks work expected, subject to change or extension).

The Role:
As our Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the business. You ll work closely with management, suppliers, and customers to ensure the smooth operation of day-to-day financial processes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC deadlines, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Accurately input and maintain both purchase ledger and sales ledger invoices into the accounting system.
  • Process transactions onto the company's factoring account (full training provided).
  • Maintain organised financial records, including digital and physical filing of invoices, statements, and related documents.
  • Light administrative duties

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar Bookkeeping role
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts is essential
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and VAT regulations
  • AAT level 2 qualification or equivalent (preferred)
  • Applicant must be able to drive, and be able to start immediately
