My client is a prestigious golf and country club located in the heart of Essex. Renowned for its stunning surroundings, excellent facilities, and exceptional service We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join our team and support the smooth running of our financial operations.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Bookkeeper to primarily manage purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll processes. The ideal candidate will have a meticulous approach to financial data, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality service to clients and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely entry into the accounting system
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare and perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll, including pensions and statutory payments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger records
  • Support month-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments
  • Liaise with suppliers and clients to resolve queries in a professional and timely manner
  • Assist with VAT returns and other ad-hoc finance tasks as required
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure financial data accuracy and compliance

Requirements

  • Minimum AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience working in a similar accounts assistant role
  • Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll processes
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage 50, Xero, AutoEntry, Bright Pay)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
