Role Overview
We are seeking a Bookkeeper to primarily manage purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll processes. The ideal candidate will have a meticulous approach to financial data, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality service to clients and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely entry into the accounting system
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll, including pensions and statutory payments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger records
- Support month-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments
- Liaise with suppliers and clients to resolve queries in a professional and timely manner
- Assist with VAT returns and other ad-hoc finance tasks as required
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure financial data accuracy and compliance
Requirements
- Minimum AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience working in a similar accounts assistant role
- Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll processes
- Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage 50, Xero, AutoEntry, Bright Pay)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
