About The Role...

This is a flexible, part-time position (30 hours per week). While we anticipate these hours being spread across 5 days to align with school hours, we're open to discussing a working pattern that suits you.

In this role, you’ll handle a variety of bookkeeping tasks, working directly with clients and our wider team to deliver high-quality, timely services. You’ll take ownership of your work, apply your knowledge of VAT (including partial exemptions), and use your initiative to support client needs.

You’ll ideally have:

  • AAT Level 4 qualified (or Level 3 with significant experience)
  • Strong experience using Xero, QuickBooks, SAGE, and Excel (including formulas)
  • Practice experience in an accountancy firm (preferred)
  • Solid understanding of VAT, with the ability to think creatively around VAT scenarios, including partial exemptions
  • Experience of preparing and submitting CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns, including understanding CIS deductions and compliance requirements (preferred but not essential)
  • A reliable, detail-oriented approach with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working office-based every day in our Basildon office
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to manage your workload effectively
  • Ability to travel, when necessary, to client sites or other offices. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
