Job description

Location:Covent Garden, London

Salary:£38.72 per hour, inclusive of pro rata holiday entitlement and preparation time.

Hours: Variable depending on course programming.

About the role

We are looking for passionate and creative Tutors who have skills in any of the following areas: Bookbinding, Marbling, Conservation and Repair, to join the School of Visual Arts at City Lit. In this role, you will design, deliver, and assess short courses in your area of expertise, guiding students to develop confidence and proficiency in a range of creative and technical skills.

  • Experience of teaching a relevant artistic discipline to groups of adults.
  • The ability to support students to overcome barriers to learning and inspire them to achieve.
  • Up to date knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject that can inspire students.
  • A qualification and/or experience relevant to the subject being taught.
  • Depending on your subject area, a strong knowledge and experience of:
  • a wide range of bookbinding techniques (traditional and contemporary),
  • marbling techniques (water-based techniques and marbling on carrageen moss size in traditional and contemporary patterns).
  • current trends in conservation and repair theory and techniques in books and paper.
