The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations and maintain accurate records of the company's financial activities. This role is key to ensuring the smooth running of our finance function, supporting informed decision-making at the director level.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and on time
  • Process invoices, receipts, payments, and expenses
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and supplier accounts
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Work closely with our external accountants to support month-end and year-end processes
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with other compliance requirements
  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems (digital and/or physical)
  • Generate regular financial reports for the directors, including cash flow summaries, aged debtors/creditors, and P&L snapshots
  • Assist with budget tracking, forecasting, and identifying any variances
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by the Director
Person Specification
Essential
  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping or finance assistant role
  • Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Xero)
  • Strong Excel and data entry skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Good communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with accountants, suppliers, and internal team members
Desirable
  • Experience in a small business or creative industry setting
  • AAT association of accounting technicians) qualification (or working towards)
  • Familiarity with preparing VAT returns and submitting via Making Tax Digital
