Job summary

Autoskills-Uk in Birmingham is seeking a Paint Sprayer & Prepper - Multi-Skilled Technician to join a professional bodyshop. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with a salary dependent on experience (£35,000 - £45,000).

You will prepare, refinish and complete high-quality paint repairs across a range of vehicles, work with modern spray systems, and join a team committed to high standards, ongoing training, and career progression in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Paint Sprayer or Vehicle Prepper in an automotive bodyshop.
• Knowledge of paint systems, colour matching and finishing techniques.
• Attention to detail and ability to work to high standards.
• Full UK driving licence.
• ATA accreditation advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare damaged vehicles and replacement panels through sanding, filling, masking and priming.
• Mix and apply paint using manufacturer-approved paint systems.
• Colour matching, blending, polishing and final finishing work.
• Inspect completed paintwork for showroom-quality finish.
• Complete paint rectification and quality control.
• Coordinate with Panel Technicians and MET Technicians to ensure efficient repair progression.
• Maintain spray booths, equipment and work areas following health and safety procedures.
• Complete repairs within timescales while maintaining exceptional workmanship.

THE ROLE

As a Paint Sprayer & Prepper - Multi-Skilled Technician, you will be responsible for preparing, refinishing, and completing high-quality paint repairs on a wide range of vehicles. You'll manage the repair process from preparation through to the finished product, ensuring every vehicle leaves the workshop to the highest manufacturer and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare damaged vehicles and replacement panels through sanding, filling, masking, and priming
• Mix and apply paint using manufacturer-approved paint systems
• Carry out colour matching, blending, polishing, and final finishing work
• Inspect completed paintwork to ensure a flawless, showroom-quality finish
• Complete paint rectification and quality control where required
• Work closely with Panel Technicians and MET Technicians to ensure efficient repair progression
• Maintain spray booths, equipment, and work areas in line with health and safety procedures
• Complete all repairs within agreed timescales while maintaining exceptional workmanship

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated Paint Sprayer & Prepper who enjoys working across multiple stages of the refinishing process and takes pride in delivering outstanding results.

• Previous experience as a Paint Sprayer, Vehicle Prepper, or Multi-Skilled Paint Technician within an automotive bodyshop
• Strong knowledge of vehicle preparation, paint application, colour matching, and finishing techniques
• Experience using modern paint systems and manufacturer-approved repair methods
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality repairs
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining exceptional standards
• Positive attitude with excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Full UK Driving Licence
• ATA Accreditation advantageous but not essential
