Job description

Stagecoach Cumbria is seeking enthusiastic and motivated staff to join our team of Engineers at Lillyhall depot. Applicants should be experienced Craftsmen familiar with working under pressure in a busy environment on state-of-the-art vehicles.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: £16.79 per hour on weekdays, with enhanced rates for weekends and bank holidays.

Annual holiday entitlement will increase to 25 days from 1st May 2024.

Position Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to provide quality service and repairs in a safe, efficient, and economical manner to our fleet of vehicles.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Observe, recognize, and report any body or structural defects or symptoms of impending failure.
  2. Perform vehicle modifications as required by manufacturer or company specifications.
  3. Mark out, cut, and form sheet metal, plywood, hardboard, and fiberglass panels for fitting on vehicles.
  4. Fit panels to vehicle body frames using anti-fretting and corrosion-resistant materials, adhesives, screws, nails, rivets, and other fixing devices, including moulding strips.
  5. Cut apertures and install windows.
  6. Hang doors, both horizontally and vertically, made of wood or metal.
  7. Repair damaged vehicles by removing damaged panels and body parts, straightening panels, and replacing parts as needed.
  8. Carry out body repairs using welding equipment.
  9. Restore damaged paintwork and perform complete repainting with colour matching.
  10. Manufacture, repair, or maintain body fittings and accessories.

Experience with heavy commercial vehicles, especially PCV vehicles, would be advantageous.
