Purpose of the role
To provide data-led expert oversight, checking, and challenging on business and compliance matters to ensure the organization operates in accordance with Barclays' legal, regulatory, and ethical responsibilities.
Accountabilities
- Identify and assess compliance risks through thorough reviews of business activities, changes, processes, testing, and systems.
- Identify and investigate potential market abuse, including but not limited to, insider dealing, unlawful disclosure, market manipulation, or anti-competitive conduct.
- Conduct investigations of compliance risk events or breaches and oversee corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Implement compliance policies and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and international standards, including jurisdictional specifics.
- Collaborate with 1LOD, other compliance teams, legal, and risk management functions for a comprehensive approach to compliance and risk management.
- Identify, investigate, and oversee potential money laundering, terrorist financing, or other financial crimes.

- Manage a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures, and leading multiple complex projects.
- Manage a large team or sub-function, or act as a technical expert and thought leader in organization-wide projects.
- Provide expert advice to senior management and influence decisions across functions.
- Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
- Escalate policy breaches appropriately and foster compliance.
- Monitor and influence external regulatory and advocacy environments.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of industry practices and external market developments.
- Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
- Make significant strategic decisions and influence stakeholders at senior levels.
- Act as a principal contact for key clients and counterparts.
- Represent the function and business division externally as a spokesperson.

Person Specification
- Experience in regulatory and compliance roles within a global, universal bank.
- Understanding of the global regulatory framework.
- Insight into customer protection risks and the wider regulatory landscape.

- Knowledge of financial services and demonstrated thought leadership.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders.
