Job description

Boatyard Supervisor – Hampshire Coast Location: Swanwick
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 (DOE)

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected client within the UK leisure marine sector. With a growing network of marinas and a strong commitment to enhancing the customer experience, they deliver top-tier facilities, boatyard services, and a strong sense of community at each location.

Right now, we’re supporting them in their search for a Boatyard Supervisor to join the team at one of their busiest sites on the South Coast. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity based at a well-equipped marina and yard, perfect for someone with experience in boat lifting and yard operations who also enjoys leading from the front.

About the Role The Boatyard Supervisor will work closely with the Boatcare Manager to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the yard – covering everything from lift-outs and launches to pressure washing, boat movements, and on-site safety.

You’ll lead by example on health & safety, support the team in delivering an efficient service, and ensure that all activities run smoothly and professionally. Customer service is a big part of this role – so the right person will feel confident talking with berth holders and visitors, keeping things friendly, clear, and proactive.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Overseeing boat lifts, high-pressure washing, blocking off and re-launching vessels

  • Towing vessels within the marina/yard safely and competently

  • Using and maintaining plant machinery including cranes, telehandlers, boat movers etc.

  • Managing bookings and coordinating daily schedules with the wider marina team

  • Acting as a key contact for customers – providing updates, guidance and support as needed

  • Ensuring all boatyard activities are carried out safely and efficiently

  • Supporting junior staff – helping train, develop and lead by example

  • Maintaining clear records of work, inspections and vessel movements

  • Keeping the yard clean, safe and well presented at all times

Who We’re Looking For:
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role within a boatyard or marine environment

  • Confident operating yard plant and handling a variety of vessels

  • Strong awareness of health & safety standards in a high-risk environment

  • Approachable team player with good communication skills

  • Happy working outdoors in all weathers and physically fit enough for a hands-on role

  • Comfortable working at heights and able to swim

  • A proactive, practical leader with a ‘can-do’ attitude and flexible approach

What’s in It for You:
  • Competitive salary – £33-35K depending on experience

  • 29 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

  • Bonus scheme

  • Company benefits including Health Cash Plan, Cycle to Work scheme & Life Insurance

  • Discounts on berthing, boat sales and hospitality

  • Contributory pension

  • Free parking on site

  • Friendly, supportive working environment and plenty of opportunities for growth

This is a fantastic role for someone with solid technical experience in a yard environment who enjoys working with people and leading a team. If you’ve got the boat handling skills and a strong focus on safe, efficient operations, this could be a brilliant next step.
