Job description

Job Title: Boat Skipper at Brownsea Island

We are seeking a qualified individual with an MCA Boatmasters and STCW qualification to skipper a class V 37-passenger vessel in Poole Harbour. The role involves providing an island service for residents, staff, and volunteers.

This key representative role includes accommodation on the island. You will share responsibilities with two other skippers, covering the evening boat service and the out-of-hours on-call service on a rotational basis.

Internally, this position is known as 'Boat Operator/Ranger'.

You will operate a safe, efficient, and professional boat service, ensuring all boats are maintained and operated in accordance with current regulations and guidelines.

Who We're Looking For

The primary focus of this role is to serve as a boat skipper. To succeed, you will need:

  • An MCA Boatmasters Licence
  • Experience handling boats in varying and challenging sea conditions
  • A passion for nature, heritage, and the outdoors
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • The ability to work safely, following risk assessments and safety procedures
