Job summary

Compass Group UK&I, Lodestone House, seeks a House Chef to support the Head House Chef in delivering high-quality meals for boarding pupils and staff at Uppingham School. You will prepare, cook, and serve meals, uphold food safety, and help manage the boarding house kitchen in the absence of the Head House Chef.

You will mentor kitchen staff, handle stock and cost control, and contribute to a welcoming dining environment while ensuring pupil wellbeing and healthy eating practices.

Qualifications

• Professional cookery qualification and HACCP knowledge.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for boarding pupils and staff.
• Create nutritious, varied menus meeting dietary needs.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, and waste reduction.
• Cover kitchen operations in Head House Chef's absence.
• Mentor kitchen assistants and support staff.
