Sytner BMW MINI Swansea is hiring a Trainee Vehicle Technician. Join a brand-new workshop and develop under an experienced BMW Technician. You’ll gain hands-on experience, reading repair instructions and completing jobs while working toward Level 3 qualification.

The role focuses on learning, quality, and safety in a busy workshop with on-the-job training and a clear development pathway toward BMW training and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• At least six months' practical experience in paid automotive work.
• Genuine interest in developing your career as a Vehicle Technician.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Professional and responsible approach to health and safety.

Job description

Trainee Vehicle Technician

We have an excellent opportunity available for a Trainee Vehicle Technician to join our team in our brand new workshop at Sytner BMW MINI Swansea.

Are you currently working in a fast fit garage, MOT centre, independent garage or vehicle repair workshop and looking for the next step in your career?

Perhaps you have already achieved your Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, but haven't yet had the opportunity to progress to Level 3?

If so, we want to hear from you.

You don't need previous BMW or main dealer experience. What we're looking for is someone with the right attitude, a passion for working with cars and the ambition to develop into a highly skilled BMW Technician.

We'll provide the training, support and experience to help you get there.

Your development

This is a genuine development opportunity with a clear career pathway.

You'll join us with a minimum of six months' practical experience and a Level 2 NVQ (or equivalent qualification) in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, and we'll support you as you work to achieve Level 3.

You'll work alongside an experienced BMW Technician who will act as your mentor, giving you hands‑on guidance, coaching and support as you develop your technical skills and confidence.

Once you have achieved the required level of technical competence, you'll have the opportunity to progress onto BMW technical training and qualifications to continue your development.

You'll also benefit from working in our modern workshop, with access to the specialist equipment, diagnostic technology and technical information used by our experienced BMW Technicians every day.

About you

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and keen to learn.

You must have a good level of written English as you will need to read detailed repair instructions and write up the jobs that you have carried out. A great work ethic is vital, and it is essential that you are self‑motivated and extremely reliable. You'll enjoy being part of a team and be comfortable working in a busy workshop environment where quality, safety and following the correct processes are important.

You'll need:

• A minimum Level 2 NVQ, or equivalent, in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• At least six months' practical experience in paid employment in the automotive industry
• A genuine interest in developing your career as a Vehicle Technician
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to completing work to a high standard
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A professional and responsible approach to health and safety
