Job description

Are you a technically minded sales professional with a deep understanding for smart building solutions and Building Management Systems? We're seeking a dynamic and driven BMS & Smart Building Sales Engineer to join a forward-thinking systems integrator, supporting ambitious growth plans through strategic sales, expert technical consultation, and first-class client service.

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in shaping how intelligent buildings operate, working across a diverse customer base—from M&E contractors and FM providers to retailers and consultants.

The ideal candidate will:
  1. Identify and engage with prospective clients across construction, FM, M&E, retail, and consultancy sectors to promote advanced BMS and smart building solutions.
  2. Lead the end-to-end sales process, from initial outreach through to solution presentation and closing, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and project outcomes.
  3. Interpret mechanical and electrical specifications, schematics, and tender documentation to produce accurate cost estimates and quotations for BMS installations.
  4. Prepare competitive proposals, bids, and tenders that reflect the technical scope, labour, and materials, tailored to each client's operational and energy objectives.
  5. Conduct on-site assessments and technical feasibility studies to determine optimal system configurations and ensure effective integration.
  6. Deliver technical support and consultancy to clients, assisting them in understanding BMS functionality, interoperability, and performance outcomes.
  7. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project delivery teams to ensure sales commitments are technically deliverable and commercially viable.
  8. Act as a liaison between sales and engineering, translating client expectations into technical specifications and supporting project delivery teams to maintain continuity and compliance.
  9. Stay informed on product developments, system architecture innovations, and emerging market trends—particularly around Distech, Trend, Siemens, Tridium, Delta, iSMA, and cloud-integrated solutions.
  10. Support internal training and client onboarding activities by delivering product demonstrations and tailored knowledge-sharing sessions.
  11. Provide regular sales performance updates, pipeline forecasts, and market insights to the commercial leadership team.
Skills Required:
  1. Previous experience in technical sales within the BMS, controls, or HVAC sector, ideally with a background in estimation and system design.
  2. Solid understanding of smart building technologies, energy management systems, and IoT integration within the built environment.
  3. Familiarity with relevant hardware and software platforms used in modern BMS installations, including open protocol systems and cloud-based analytics.
  4. Strong commercial acumen, with an ability to negotiate, influence, and build rapport across diverse stakeholder groups.
  5. Organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple opportunities in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
  6. Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional project and sales teams.

You'll be reporting into the senior leadership team and collaborating closely with both engineering and delivery teams - ensuring client satisfaction is front and centre from pre-sales through to final handover.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives on technical problem-solving and is passionate about helping clients make smarter, more sustainable buildings.
