As a BMS Project Design Engineer, you will lead the solution development, design, costing, and technical value proposition in response to customer specifications and client requirements.
This is a remote or hybrid-based position with approximately 20% travel expected.
How you will do it
- Assess technical requirements for BMS integration, ensuring alignment with client needs and industry best practices.
- Work closely with external and internal stakeholders to develop optimized and cost-effective BMS solutions.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and competitive services/products.
- Prepare technical documents, including system architecture, technical solution descriptions, and compliance checklists.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising functionality or performance, ensuring the most efficient solution for the project.
- Incorporate client feedback, market insights, and competitive intelligence to refine technical proposals and contribute to project success.
- Align designs with UK industry standards, building regulations, and energy efficiency mandates to maintain project viability.
- Create detailed cost breakdowns, ensuring transparency in scope-to-cost alignment. Conduct cost walkthroughs with clients and contractors to validate budget accuracy and optimized pricing strategies.
- Assist the sales team in solution validation, prepare and present technical information, and address client concerns effectively.
- Analyze competitor solutions to position proposals effectively, ensuring differentiation in value, performance, and innovation.
What we look for
Required
- Experience in BMS solution design and project cost estimation.
- Strong technical ability working on small, large, and complex BMS projects.
- Ability to use PDF documents & drawings, MS Visio, and all Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge and experience in identifying BMS specifications, scope of work, and system requirements.
- Knowledge of designing BMS main structure and operation scenarios in line with specifications and requirements.
Preferred
- BCRIA Certification / Engineering Degree.
- Ability to create/control valve and actuator selection and create valve schedules.
- AutoCAD experience.
