Overview

BMS Design Manager

Location: South East England (commutable from Surrey, Berkshire, West London)

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum

About the Company

A well-established Building Management Systems (BMS) specialist, delivering intelligent building automation solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial sectors. With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, they're seeking an experienced BMS Design Manager to lead and support their in-house design and software engineering teams.

The Role

As the BMS Design Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical output and team performance of a group of 3 Design Engineers and 3 Software Engineers. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality BMS designs and software configurations, driving project success from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and mentor the design and software engineering teams
• Oversee the production and review of system designs, schematics, control panel layouts, and technical documentation
• Ensure design compliance with specifications, industry standards, and client requirements
• Coordinate with project management, commissioning teams, and clients to ensure effective delivery
• Provide technical leadership in the use of Trend and Tridium systems
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team performance and quality
• Support resource planning and contribute to team development and recruitment

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior BMS Design or Project Engineering role
• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Trend and Tridium systems
• Prior experience leading or mentoring technical teams
• Strong understanding of BMS architecture, control strategies, and integration principles
• Proficiency in technical documentation and schematic development
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Full UK driving licence (occasional site travel may be required)
